Hi All,
I am struggling with setting up my first system of tables, forms, and reports, and could use your help!
I am setting up a database to keep track of the production of a produced item. The item is a panel, with a specific texture. There are standard panels that are then produced in a limited number of specific textures. The number of panels/project varies, so I keep track of the actual number of panels per project with the count: SequenceNum. So it is possible to have one panel, produced in four different textures, with different counts of the four combinations for a project. I keep track of these three values in three records, and this information is determined at the start of the project. As the items are produced, every day has a new lot number that I call LotNum. After completion of manufacturing, the panel is loaded onto a pallet (with 4 - 9 other panels) that will be individually numbered (PalletNum).
I want to pull the records for each panel (3 or 4 fields) into a form, add the single LotNum to every record of that day displayed on the form, and add the pallet number that the panel was finally deposited onto.
I first created a form with data entry "windows" for the 4 fields needed from the records of the panels. Then I created 3 columns of this information to correspond to the actual physical arrangement of the production frames in the factory. Then duplicated each row of three columns to simulate the production floor arrangement of manufacturing frames.
I set up the form as a continuous form, hoping to get each set of 4 fields to populate with data from the various specific panels. I was then going to add the PalletNum to each record so that the final storage location of each panel could be tracked in the manufacturing yard.
I have a system of 4 tables:
tblPanelProd: contains fields PanelName, Tex, SequenceNum, LotNum, etc.
tblBedMap: contains fields PanelName, Tex, SequenceNum, PalletNum, etc.
tblPanel: PanelName, Tex, SqFt
tblWall: Wall, StartDate, EndDate, StartLotNum, EndLotNum
The problem is that instead of each series of four fields per record filling with data on individual panels, I get an entire form of four fields filling with data from one panel. Then the next form fills entirely with the four fields of the next panels record. I have 301 panels in the current project, and ended up with 301 forms each with 70 displays of the same panel record.
I thought that making the form "continuous" would allow me to list multiple records on one form for data entry purposes, but I missed something somewhere.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks!
