Hello, all.
I have created a project in Access 2003 to track a student's progess toward a college degree. I want the user to enter their student id in a text box on a form, look up if that user is present in the student table, and if not show the form to enter their student information.
I can't get the text box to accept user input, and return the student info as a single record on the form. I have a query but I don't know how to set the proprerties to run the query.
Thanks for any help.
Hi,
In your case it's better to create a form that isn't based on a record source.
In this form you enter a text Field or a combobox Field with the information that you supply to your query
For me it's better to be a combobox with the list of the present students...
Then on this form you add the boutons like Open information and Add new student.. when in the combo box there is no record for the wanted student..
On click event in those boutons you need to assign the form that have to be open
A command like
Docmd.openform "MyFormName"
This command is very well explained in Access Basic help
Euii and in the query that shows the information for the students you have
to type:
=Forms!YourFormWithTheCriteria!Students_ID
As parameter in the criteria grid
Have a nice day :)
