How to Best Record Product Attributes

Greetings! I am designing an Access '97 database for my company and
have run into an issue as to how best to record the various features
for the items we sell.

For example a refrigerator can have the following options:

Type of Refrigerator - Side by Side, Top Freezer, French Door, etc
Color - Black, White, Stainless Steel, etc
Spillsafe Shelves - Yes/No
Icemaker - Yes/No

A range might have the following:
Fuel Source - Gas/Electric
Oven Capacity
Color - Black, White, Stainless Steel, etc
Double Oven - Yes/No
Warming Drawer - Yes/No
Number of Elements

I have a table (tbl_ModelNumbers) that lists the hundreds of model
numbers we sell along with some very general attributes. My question
is how do I best go about separating the various options? I really
don't want to have two dozen empty fields for every refrigerator (empty
options b/c it's not a range, dishwasher, etc). Would I be better off
creating a separate table for each product type and use some type of
query to combine all of the model numbers into one list?

I realize there is probably a simple solution to this but I've been
staring at this database for so long that it's probably a matter of not
seeing the forest through the trees.

Thanks for your help!

Not as easy as it looks. Read Rebecca Riordan's article on Access
about Subclassing entities.
