Record retrieval question

I have a lengthy form containing several fields of data. Each record
that is entered is given a record identification number. Sometimes the
user gets midway into the form and has to stop to display another
record. The current unfinished record is saved and retrieved later
using the lookup field built into the form. My question: Is it
possible to build into the form a "retrieve" button that could pull
this unfinished record automatically using the record id number and
require no user input? I know the easiest solution is having the user
write down the record id number and look it up using the lookup field
but sometimes the users forget to write down the record id number which
causes them to have to search through hundreds of records which is very
time consuming. Thanks.

A thought..

Are you handy with VBA?

Add a "Remember" command button to the form. Behind this write some code
that stores the current record ID in a form-level variable.

Add a "Recall" (Retrieve) command button to retrieve the record saved in
the variable.

You might want some extra code to ensure Recall isn't available until
the variable is set, and Remember isn't available unless a real record
is currently displayed.

Alternatively you could duplicate the entire form object and provide a
means of opening the duplicate, but this seems like overkill.

I'm interested to know what ideas others have as this could be handy for
me as well.
