Access 2000 crashing...

I'm using Access 2000 on a Dell PC with 256MB of RAM, and it freezes
up almost immediately after opening the database. The database is on an
internet server, but no-one else who connects notices any problems,
it's only on this PC.Actually its a refurbished PC, the original
Dell(same model) worked perfectly. But now as stated, upon opening the
DB, or opening a table/query/report in print preview it freezes up for
a couple of minutes. Then when I try to scroll down it freezes up
again. I can eventually work with it, but it takes half an hour to do
what should take only minutes.

Any suggestions? I've compacted and repaired, relinked tables, and even
tried Access 2003 trial edition with no improvement.

Thanks,

Stumped.
