MAX NUMBER

Hi ppl

I have created a form based on a query. the query call the max number
from the table and adds 1 to it....

This is the only field the query calls. the rest of the fields on my
form i have added text or combo boxes to enter values. My problem
arises when i try and pass my max number value through a parameter
field that calls a query to insert data in my table.

it works if i put set values... but as soon as i try and use the value
MAX NUMBER from the text box.. i get an error....

it would help if you listed what error you were getting, but try this:

from your explanation, it sounds as though you have a query that all it
does is look up the max value in a table. You can skip creating a new
query and just use the following code:

dim rs as recordset
set rs=currentdb.openrecorset("YourTable")
with rs
.addnew
!YourField = DMax("YourField","YourTable")+1
.update
.bookmark=.lastmodified
end with

"YourField" is obviously your numbered field that you were getting the
max value from. this code should work, let me know if there are any
issues with it.
