upsizing data issues

P: n/a
Hi everyone,

I am using the Upsizing Tool in Access 2002 to upsize to SQLServer
2000. I am finding that the data type number (field size: double) when
upsized is turned into a float type. What is disconcerting is that the
upsizer appears to be adding data to the end of the value. What starts
off as 283.456 ends up as 283.4560000000003 or something like that.
Does anyone have any idea what might cause this and/or a way to stop
this from happening? When I link the table via ODBC and query for the
original value, I don't get a match. I have to query for the new
value. This is causing problems in my app. Also, when you view the
data in the linked table through Access, it appears unchanged, but when
you look at in Query Analyzer, it shows the changed value.

I have tried converting the data to decimal in some cases (after
upsizing) and that works fine, but I have about 200 fields of this type
and I will have to look at each one carefully to determine the proper
scale and precision in order to convert. Not looking forward to that

Thanks for any help,
