VBA code to save file from http to hard drive?

Hi all,

I'm sure this is simple, I'm just not up on anything like VBA syntax &
functions.

I need an Access 2002/VBA code that gets an XL file from
http://www.somewhere.com/name.xls and saves it to the hard drive under
somename.xls

Can anyone show me how to do this?

tia,

Hi Tia,

You can use ftp.exe which is a command line utility program that comes
with Microsoft windows. Here is a link that explains the usage from
Access in a little more detail

http://www.mvps.org/access/modules/mdl0015.htm

You can also use wininet.dll. You can find a sample application on the
msdn knowledge base.

Drat - I was hoping it would be as simple as using the
filesystemobject's copyfile method. (In particular, I was about to look
into putting a url into the Source argument slot.)

Thanks - will follow-up on these hints.
