Updating a field thru a table.

Hi I have a simple problem that i have no clue in how to solve. I created a new DB with these tables (Department, Users, Ticket). Table department only has the department field i.e. admin, billing, helpdesk, etc. Table Users has user's name and office location with department being lookup from department table so that i can choose the list from the department table. Table Ticket has user's name, department and problems. My question is this, i am trying to create a form that uses problems, the field that needs to be populated is date, user name, department, problem and solution. The user will type in the date, username will be a dropdown box, and i would like the department field to be populated based on the username. Is this possible?
Thanks and as my name suggest i don't have much or any experience using access.

Yes it's possible!

In your form, when U create a combobox with the users, U can put the first column Id departement and the second user

In the Bound property of the combo box you type 0... thaht indicates that Access will get the information of the first column when updating this field!

And in the property Control Source you have to choose the field Departement!

In the property Column number you type 2

To hide the first column - departement, in the property column width you type 0, 8
and you choose also the width for the all the list of your combo box!

:)
