how can i divide large records ?

P: 1
Hello Everybody,

I am a newbie to Microsoft Access.

I have a very large file which contains 1 million records and i want to divide it into groups, like 20.000 in each group. There is no other criteria, i just want to divide them.

I would appreciate if somebody can write me the instructions to do this.

thank you

OK! You have to do:
1.Select query like this:
SELECT TOP 20000 *, Group, ID
FROM My_table
WHERE (((Group) Is Null))
ORDER BY ID; AS MYquery
2. Update Query:
UPDATE MYquery SET Group = [My_group_name];

This have to do groups that have the names specified by you each time when you start the update query
