How to evaluate data from the same table?

P: n/a
Hi, DB newbie so please bare with me!

I am in the process of creating a products DB in Access 2002 with a view to
it being
used in conjunction with ASP to display a catalog online.

I have a table that contains a ProductCode field and an ImageName field.
The product images are all named ProductCode.jpg (ie RP77865.jpg).
Iwould like the value of the ImageName field to get part of it's data from
another column in the same table.

Something like this:

ProductCode ImageName
RP77865 (Products.ProductCode).jpg

Is this possible?

Thanks for your time & patience.

Graham

If that is the rule, there is no need to store the ImageName in the
database. A rule in db design says: don't store calculated fields.
Rather, re-calculate that field when you need it, using a query like
this:
select ProductCode, ProductCode & ".jpg" as ImageName from MyTable

Hi Tom and thanks for the reply.

Of course!
Now that you have told me that it seems obvious!

Thanks again.
