When exactly do you get the unrecognised format message -
during import of tables to new db, when opening new db after
import, when trying to open renamed .bak, ?
Also which version of Access?
This is useful for A2000 with links to other versions:

A client appears to have either completely corrupted their
.mdb file or has somehow managed to create a .bak file
whilst
trying to zip the .mdb file.
Can anyone advise how I might be able to help them restore
the
.mdb file from what appears to be a .bak file. I have
tried
renaming the extension and repairing, both within Access
and
using a shortcut /repair. I have also tried creating a new
.mdb and importing the tables. However all I am getting is
the
"unrecognised database format" error.
Thank you
