I have a column in a table that currently only has one record. That column
is set to combo box. I want the user to be able to lookup values from the
column itself--the very same column--rather than a long list of values in
the rowsource. Then, if the value doesn't exist, the user could type it
in, and the next time that value is needed again it will be there in the
list without having to manually add that value to the rowsource. Is this
possible?
I also am not sure what you mean by "a long list of values in the
rowsource," as a Row Source should only contain values from which the user
should select.
It seems to me that you may be describing the case where the Row Source of a
Combo Box may well be a Query against the same Table to which the Combo Box
is bound, thus listing only the values already used for that Field, but not
_limiting_ the user... so the user can enter a new value, if needed. Such a
Query would have its Unique Values property set, so that any value would
only be listed once, no matter in how many records it actually appears. I
have often used this approach with good results.
