serious error

Help!

(good day as well!)
I have been wotking on data base for very long time now, and the db uses a
lot of append queries. I have a lot of code, and functions, and the datbase
froze. upon re-opening it, every query i get states:

Compile error: in query expression Mid(([JCJOB]),4,3)

it is like it does not recognize that 'Mid' is a function.

Also, my toolbars at the top are all messed up, my formatting one is greyed
out.

Has anyone heard of this before?

if so, is there a cure?

Very Much TIA

~K

Are all your references ok?

Faliing that I would decompile, compact, compile and compact again. Working
on a backup of course.
