Marginally Slightly OT - Read/Write permissions for querying

OT as this question relates to MSQuery, which maybe the people here
could answer - they often know alot more than just Access :)

I have a few Excel spreadsheets set up which use MSQuery to refresh the
data from CSV files on a Linux server.
When setting the file permissions to Read only (on the Linux directory
holding the CSV's) I am unable to refresh the data. Yet setting the
permissions to Read/Write I get the data to refresh.
I am thinking maybe a lock file may be getting created but don't know
where, I can't see files appearing when the query is running against
the CSV - maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Any pointers?

Thanks in advance

Phil
