Cant Update Recordset

I am trying to make a finances database. I have a master table which
contains transaction header info and then a line details table. What i
want is to make a reconcile query where i can see simply the date,
account and posted (boolean field) from the transaction table and then
a subquery with the total off all the line details for the transaction.
this in itself is easy to set up. However I can not check if it is
posted? If i go back to the subquery and ungroup it i can. But when i
sum it so that i can see the total of the transaction so that it
matches the bank statement it wont let me update it. How do i solve
this?

You may not be able to do it quite this way. You cannot update a row in a
grouping/summing query. By definition, you are not looking are a single
identifiable data row in a grouping query. You are looking at one summary
row on each line that could represent any number of lower-level data rows.

Sadly, when another query includes a reference to such a query, the new
query also becomes non-updatable as well.

There are quite a few ways to go at this. Are you constrained to queries
for any reason, or can you branch out to forms for these tasks?
