dynamic query of files in a directory

Hi,

Is there a way I could design a query (incl VBA if needed) that when
called by other queries, returns a list of eg the existing files in a
specific directory? I have functions for listing the contents of a
directory, but don't know how to dynamically call (and terminate) and
display the results in a query.

Thanks for your help in advance.

You could have a temporary table that you clear and then insert these
into it and then query the table. This depends on how your current
functions are "listing the contents of a directory". An array?
Character delimited string?

I think you can also construct your own recordsets dynamically that
aren't part of the database. You would just build the recordset and
then use it instead. Depends on how you'd want to use it or what you
intend to do with it.

My function for listing the folder contents returns file attributes in
an array. What I was looking for is a way of listing these results in a
Query without having to resort to a temporary table. I have a DB
referencing files that are being scanned by a scanning vendor and then
returned to us electronically. I have a form that will allow users to
look up files by different attributes, and if it's available
electronically on the file system, the user should be able to open it
by clicking on a button. The only way I could do this now is by calling
a make table query to populate a table of the files on the file system.
What I would want is for that to be dynamic.
