Help with Availability Query in Access

P: 2
Hi All!

I am tryin to create a simple hire system for a fancy dress outlet.

CustomerID
Title
Name
Surname
Address1
Address2
Postcode
ContactNumber

CostumeID
Name
Description(Memo)
Supplier
Unavailable(yes/No)

HireID
*CustomerID
*CostumeID
DateHired
DateDueBack
HireComplete (Yes/No)

Assumption: if a hire table can have many costumes how can i make this work in the attributes?

Also I need to devise a query to check availabilty of costumes? Ive tried so many but i cant seem to get it so the user inputs the date to check for.

Im pretty new to Access, and am sort of doing this as a hobbie for a friend? any ideas would be grateful.....:)
Many thanx

Set your relationships as one to many and this will allow one in each of the customer and costume tables, but allow many entries in your hire table.

In your query you have a couple of options. You could make it a parameter query which will prompt the user for data:

between [Please enter beginning date] and [Please enter ending date]

This will generate two input boxes to the user to create the desired date range.

You could also have a form with text boxes which the user enter's dates into and then direct the query to that form. This will only work if the form is open (does not have to be visible, though). If this were the case you would put this in the criteria for your query:

between forms!formname.textboxname and forms!formname.textboxname

If you need anything else, let me know.
