In Word, you can right-click the merge field, and set a MergeFormat as part
of the field.
Alternatively, you can create a query in Access, and use the Format()
function to generate the text you want to use in Word. Then use the query
instead of the table for the merge. You would type something like this into
the Field row:
DisplayDate: Format([MyField], "Long Date")
replacing MyField with the name of your field.
The date is actually stored within Access without any formatting.
Internally, Access uses a floating point number. The integer part represents
the date. The fraction part represents the time. The formatting is applied
at display time, based on the user's Regional Settings.
Since you are using a d/m/y format, you might also like to know how to avoid
Access misunderstandig your dates. See:
International Date Formats in Access

Hi Everyone,
I don't know if this is the correct forum but I thought i'd ask. I have an
access DB with a function to automatically safe a table with fields i'm
mail merging into MS Word. Word looks at the table from the Access
Database.
The export function all works, but the Date format is incorrect. I want it
in Long format (Tuesday, 2, May, 2006) which is how it's stored in the
table. When I open Word with the merged document, the date is in Short and
the format is American. 5/2/06. I want it to show as long format above.
Can someone help me with where I can change the formatting?
Thanks.
