retrieve graphics in OLE-Field when OLE-Server does not exist anymore

Hi to all,

I have the following problem:
In a database we have put e.g. TIF-Files into OLE-fields. Through the
years, the OLE-Server has changed, for example from Photopaint 6.0 to
Photopaint 10.0.
Now I can still display the old files in a form, but I cannot open them
by double-click for editing.

Does anybody know, how Access can be convinced that a Photopaint6 file
can be opened with Photopaint10?

Thanks in advance!

Uwe

First of all what is PhotoPaint? I have not heard of this application.

The OLE Server is linked to the embedded/linked OLE object via its CLSID.
Theoretically, you could try to directly modify this GUID to match the CLSID
of the new version of the application.
Realistically, it might be easier to export all of the images inserted by
the older version 6.0 of the app and then reinsert them using the current
version 10. This could all be done programmatically with code from my site.

Thanks for the link. That's a great app. It worked for the objects
which were embedded as bmp, unfortunately not for the tif and jpg
images that were entered with Photo-Paint as a server.
Photo-Paint is a Corel-Software for image editing (like Adobe's
Photoshop). Is it possible for me to adapt your app to Photo-Paint?

I'd be willing to add PhotoPaint support to my app. Please Email your ZIPPED
MDB containing 10 or less of the Photopaint images. Make sure there are both
the earlier and current versions of Photopaint images and that you add info
so I will know what version is which for each individual image.

If you look at my SIG below to see my Domain name then you can Email me at:
