Corrupted File

Laptop lost power while on an airplane. No big deal, but the Access
database that I was working on at the time now won't open. I've tried
to repair it, I always get the error message about the file being
corrupted. I can, however, open tables and queries through Excel, so
the data is intact. What I'm mainly hoping to get back is the VBA code
I wrote while my flight was delayed...any suggestions

Many thanks in advance

if you create a blank MDB, can you import objects from the corrupted
mdb into it ?

Not related to this topic, but to le*********@natpro.com:

"access97 / sql server, how to speed up this query"

Did you see the replies to your question?

If people take the time to answer, perhaps you could provide whatever brief
feedback you can spare the time for.

Look for an .ldb file with the same name as your database file and
delete it (the .ldb file). Then try to compact and repair the database.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Trying to import the objects into a new
database brings up the same error ("MS Access has detected corruption
in this file..."). Also, the .ldb file has been deleted. Any other
advice or experiences with this?
Forgot to mention, it's Access 2003 running on XP Pro.

Do you have all the Service Packs and updates installed for Access and Jet?
If so, I don't think the following will do you any good, but there was a
JetComp utility downloadable from Microsoft that sometimes would recover a
database that Access compact and repair would not. I am reasonably certain
that its "better code" had been incorporated long before Access 2003.

Google on Save As Text and Load From Text. That may work, as a last resort.
It's "officially undocumented" but has been discussed here.

Also, there's some possibility that importing from VBA code _may_ work in
cases where File | Get External Data does not.

If all else fails, and it's worth a modest amount of money, you could try a
data recovery service. Many here have recommended
http://www.pksolutions.com. The principal, Peter Miller, has postd in this
newsgroup in the past, but I have not seen anything from him recently. Nice
thing: he will examine your DB, tell you if he can recover, and give you a
price quote -- all for free. Just for the record, I have neither a personal
nor business relationship with Peter or his company.
