How to use update query to input a random# to a field of every record

I'm not a programmer and don't know anything about SQL.
But I know how to use Select Query and then Update Query to the
records. However, when I use update query to update a field of all
record to random#. It only generate 1 random# and then each record get
same # generate by random function. Anyone can help?

post your SQL statement, please. to do that: open the query in design view.
from the menu bar, click View | SQL View. highlight *all* the text in the
SQL pane, copy it, and paste it into a post.

I just copy a macro from a past post and follow its step and it works,
even I totally not understand the meaning that macro. Tks Tina.
