Disk Farm

Br
Hi

I've been thinking about creating a new Data Warehouse but I've been
told I'll need a fairly big disk farm to get started.

I know this isn't really the right place to be asking these questions
but someone might have some experience - can anyone give me any help
with the following?

1) How far should the farm be from the Data Warehouse? Obviously the
closer the better so that the disks can be transported quickly, but is
there a maximum distance involved?
2) Rather than farming the disks myself is it better to go to an
established farmer and offer a deal on co-location? There are plenty
of farmers around and I know many of the like to diversify.
3) Are the magnetic disks likely to attract roadsigns during
transport?

I hope these questions aren't too newbie, but you've all been very
helpful up till now, and I really feel like I've come so far.
