Yes. You can have both versions installed. Just make sure you do a custom
install of A2003. During the install, if you check the box for custom
details, you can choose which previous version to leave installed, and
leaving A97 installed can be a life saver for you.

I am currently using Access 97. I am thinking of updating to the latest
version of Access. Will I encounter any problems in using my access 97
databases.. and if so can I instead have both versions installed?
