Documentation of Database in Word

Hi all,

I need to document a database, and I do need output in Word so that I can edit the output.

I need to describe table and field structure, used objects, dataflow, workflow,
What are the options?
I can think of the 'documentor' build in Access or third party tools like Total Access Analyser (FMS)?

I tested the documentor and exported the reports as rtf to Word.
It is doable for the object descriptions but not nice to work with ...

I downloaded a trial of TAA and looked at it.
TAA seems like a bit of 'overkill' for my needs (300+ reports).
Also I don't think even TAA is capable of exporting the reports to Word, or am I mistaken here?

Is there something 'in between' these two options I mentioned?
What do others here use for their documenting needs?

Thanks,
Arno R

Hi Arno,

You could try my new CSD Tools Database Documentation Version 2.0.
It documents several areas of your database and Version 2 now supports
direct output to Word and Excel.

It is no where close to the complexity of TAA and won't provide for all
of your needs, but mine is free so you have nothing to lose.
:-)

You can download the free add-in from this page of my site. Please read
all the instructions and warnings:

http://home.bendbroadband.com/conrad.../csdtools.html

In addition, this page on my site may help with tables:

http://home.bendbroadband.com/conrad.../doctable.html

Hope you find it useful,

Hi

If you still interested in a tool to documentating databases (Oracle,
SQL Server2000, MS Access and very soon SQL Server 2005) please take
some time to check out our software on www.dbmanual.com
Their is a free evalutaion tool available!

All documentation will be placed in the famous MSDN style and their is
also a tool to automated this task at a certain time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me
