copy value from previous record!

i found this code on the internet that copy value from the previous record
to the new record.
Private Sub Ordrenummer_AfterUpdate()
Const cQuote = """"
Me!Ordrenummer.DefaultValue = """" & Me!Ordrenummer.Value & """"
End Sub

but I am only interested in the first 5 of the 10 digits from the previous
record.
is this possible? and what would the code look like then?.
