frequent crashing on network

Access 2000 running on CC3 network. Usually not more than 20 users.
Crashes seem to occur randomly. Is it possible that a laptop going onto
standby or hibernating with db open would cause a crash? Is there a way
of avoiding this? When I say crash - the db becomes completely corrupt,
will not open, is not recognised as a db by Access etc. and I need to
restore a backup copy. My colleagues are getting fed up! I have not
split the db. If I did this, would the same problems occur?
Grateful for any help.

Certainly splitting it is a good step; it often alleviates corruption in
network situations.
I'm not familiar with the designation CC3 -
but I'd mention that Access is relatively demanding in its network use; an
"iffy" network should not be used with Access.
