Creating Object (Outlook.Application)

Greetings.

I am trying to create an instance of Outlook.Application so that I may
build an email within a routine in the VBA behind my database.

I am running MS/Access 2003 (2000 format). The statement that is
failing is:

dim objOutlook as Outlook.Application

The error message is: "User defined type not defined."

I thought that I was missing a library reference, so I enabled
"Microsoft Office Outlook View Control". That didn't work.

Any ideas for me?
Thanks much.

Regards,
SueB

That's not the library that you need. You need the Microsoft Outlook ##
Object Library. The Office 2003 version is 11.

Randy,

Thanks for the info. Guess what, though. It didn't work. I added the
reference for Microsoft Office 11.0 Object Library but still get the
error. I then moved it up in the priority list and still got the error.
Then I closed the application and relaunched it (in design mode) and
still got the error (when compiling).

HELP! Any ideas?

SueB

Susan,

The "Microsoft Office 11.0 Object Library" is not the correct library.

You're looking for the "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library".

See the text of Randy's post:

Sincerely,

Thanks for the info. When I FINALLY selected the correct library it
worked fine (kept thinking OFFICE not OUTLOOK).
