add a field

P: n/a
Hi,

I want the user to be able to add a field to a table. (I'm trying to set up
a sytem to record marks / or comments made when student books are marked -
obviously thet could be marked any number of times and there could be text
field or numerical fields to be added .... which is not known about in
advance.) I can't fid where to begin to do this.

Instead of adding fields, you should split your table into two - 1
would have teacher info, and 2 would have marks and comments. Set them
up in a 1-To-Many relationship, one teacher for several marks. The
teacher ID will be the Primary Key in the Teacher table and the foreign
key in the Marks table.

To modify fields on the fly you need to use ADOX.

ADOX is not particularly difficult but not the subject of instant
enlightenment to be obtained here.
