Flicker

I have a very peculiar issue and would greatly appreciate any help.
I am using Access 97 on Windows XP Home. I am using Compaq Presario
2500 laptop.

When I open up any module in design mode, the screen starts flickering
because of the battery kicking in and then kicking off even though the
computer is on the Adapter all the time. The flickering is the same as
if I was to remove the Adapter cord from the computer and the screen
intensity was to reduce. Infact I can see my battery icon come on in
the system tray and then switch over to the charging/power adapter icon
and back to the battery icon and so on. The frequecy is probably once
per second.

I originally thought that this was because my battery had become
drained and was causing this problem but I got a new battery and the
problem continued. Also it is related only to the Module Design window.
When I close the module design window, the flickering stops and
immediately comes back on as soon as I open the Module design window.

Did'nt I say it was peculiar?

If you have any forms utilizing a timer, I'd try closing them, or
disabling
the timer, while developing, and see if that helps.

Hate to say it, but it's nice to see that someone else is frustrated
with this.

Our team has run into this every since they upgraded the PCs in the
company to XP. It happens whenever automated programs to execute &
export code runs (primarily it happens on export however).

We can't get it to duplicate 100% of the time, but as a safeguard, we
know that it has something to do with the task bar. If you alt-tab
from Access to other apps, or use the Windows key to pull up the Start
menu, you're fine. However, actually clicking on the taskbar
significatly increases the "flicker" effect you're describing. (Or, as
our group has since nicknamed it: "it's gone blinky".)

Now this happens on PCs as well as laptops, and ONLY on the XP boxes.
Those few NT machines that float around have never ever had the issue.

The problem is we can't get any support because MicroSux says "You're
using A97 on XP? When you gonna come out of the Dark Ages?
Bwahahahahaha."

Thanks for your reply. However, I do not have any forms with timers in
my application.

What is so unexplainable is how can software force the battery adapter
to switch off and then on - and that too only when I open up one of the
Code Modules in my Access application?
You may have a point about exporting code modules triggering this as I
was also probably doing that in most (if not all) of the instances when
the problem happened. Too bad Microsoft will not entertain or even
recognize this as a problem.

I have not noticed the same thing with other applications.
