Compact a password protected MDB from a front end MDE

I have an Access 2003 application that consists of a front end MDE with
linked tables to a password protected MDB. I try to use ADO code for
this because my MDB is password protected.

Dim jro As jro.JetEngine
Set jro = New jro.JetEngine

jro.CompactDatabase "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data
Source=d:\nwind2.mdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=test", _
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=d:\abbc2.mdb;Jet
OLEDB:Engine Type=4;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=test"
I am unable to compact the MDB from code within my MDE. However, the
code does work when the MDE is closed (I ran the code from a different
MDE). The error message that I receive is:

"You attempted to open a database that is already opened exclusively
by user 'Admin' on machine 'My Machine'. Try again when the
database is available."

How can I compact the MDB from the MDE that it is linked to? I am
trying to make this feature very user friendly because my customer does
not have much computer experience.
