Sum Subform Records in Mainform contol

I'm summing subform records in a control on a main form. I have a control in
the subform footer called TotalAmount with the control source
=Sum([Amount]). On my mainform control I reference this control
=[subfrm1].[Form]![TotalAmount].

Works great except when the subform has no records. I get "#error" when I'd
like to get 0.

I've tried =NZ([subfrm1].[Form]![TotalAmount],0).

Any thoughts on how I can avoid "#error" and return 0?
