Combo-box not displaying all entries

I have added a combo-box to a form but it frequently fails to display
all entries in the table it is based on. There are 43 entries in the
table; the control initially displayed only the first 12. I inserted a
query between the table and combo-box; it then displayed the first 17
entries. By selecting the first few letters of the last entry I managed
to enter it into one record, and after that the combo-box showed all
entries.

Until that is, a few hours later, when it was only showing 9. There had
been no apparently relevant changes to design or data in the meantime.

What on earth is going on? It's rather obviously an Access bug, but what
might be triggering it and how do I work around it?
Am using Access 2000, Dutch-language version, Win XP Pro

Compact and Repair your database(s), if that doesn't correct the problem,
try creating a new combobox (use the wizard) with the same row source.

Access can "remember" form filters so you'll need to "Show All Records" if
you previously had some set.

No, I'd already tried that. (Maybe I should have said).

Tried it today - the problem went away for a few hours and then
spontaneously reappeared (i.e. without me having made any further design
changes at all to that form). Most vexing.

No, not applicable.

Should you happen to have any further ideas ...
