running Access Read Only

Hi all,
I have an application split be/fe, with 5 'users'. Each machine has a FE.
I wish to extend this to 40 additional 'read only' users, or 'Readers'

I have restriected the concurrent users to 5, and propose to have a shortcut
on each of the readers machines, to an FE file on the shared drive. They
will
have read/write access to that folder.
Access to this will be restricted to read only, with access security, and
appropiriate privilages.
Concurrency will require the readers to be able to write automatically to
the log file containing
the current number of users.

The other alternative i've considered, is using the readonly switch for the
Readers, and ignoring concurrency.
I'm concerned about the network traffic associated with this, and the
potential for a many readers logged in at the
same time. This option is preferable, as none of the readers could 'lock'
the datafile inadvertantly, since such 'Readers
would not be added to the ldb file.

I'd be interested in any comments.

Thnks in advance.

Gerry Abbott
