Subform AfterUpdate goes to first parent record

I have a subform with a couple of event procedures. One is the
afterupdate event for a control on the subform. This one works fine.
The other is the afterupdate event for the subform itself. The code
runs as expected, but then the *parent* form goes back to the first
record. I want the parent form to stay on the same record it was on.
How can I do this? TIA
Rivka
