Microsoft Outlook 2000 Blocks Access File Attachment

I am trying to receive an Access database file that is attached to an
emai.

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2000. The email has a message at the top
that the database file was blocked because it is potentially harmful.

How can I get Outlook to deliver the attachment?

Thanks.

Change the file suffix from ".Mdb" to practically anything else like ".XYZ".
Make sure you know the file is kosher though

I tried gmail, it blocks it too.
But yahoo mail doesn't block.
So, it's a good thing to have several mail accounts, if one doesn't
work, try another one... But maybe this isn't what you are looking
for...

Phil Another way is to zip it, not a bad idea with mdb files especially if you forgot to
compact it before attaching it.

Even a compacted MDB is going to zip to 1/3 or 1/4 (or more) of its
original size. Database files have lots of empty space in them.

There is a utility for enabling files to pass through Outlook security.
Check it out at this link. I've used it for years and I love it, but be
careful ... if bypasses the anti-virus feature and allows you to open
up your email attachments to potentially dangerous files.
