"Select single * " in ACCESS 2000

I am using Access2000 . In a query window, after selection of a group
of records using aggregate function "group by", I want to
retrieve only one record from each group including ungrouped fields
also.
For example, from the following records,

A B C
A B D
A B E
A H F
A H G,
i am grouping on first and second fields . I want results
like this:
A B C
A H G .
The selection of C, D or E could be first matching value or random ,
but it must be included in the results.

Is this possible in Access ? Is there any workaround ?

Create field "fldNewField: left([oldfield],2)" and group on that

Then change the parameter for the old field from "Group by" to "Last"
or "First".
