expression invalud, aggregate functions allowed only on output fields....

Hey,

I have a report featuring a handful of subreports, a field taking values
from the main record source, and a field in the report footer which
displays the sum of values in said field.

The report works fine normally, if I hide the subreports then it still
works ok...

....however...

If I hide the subreports through vba (externally, i.e. from within the
command button on another form which opens this report) then I get the
error 'the expression 'sum([guests])' is invalid... aggregate functions
are only allowed on output fields of the record source'

Any clues? The subreports are totally seperate to the fields in question!

Using access 2002 adp with sql-server 8.

Cheers,
Chris
