Inference Engine

P: n/a
Group -

I am working on a project that needs an inference engine (read: ala
expert system) for Access. The task is relatively simple so a low-tech
inference engine should do fine. Is there some stuff out there already
or do I need to write it for this project?

Thanks!

I would not rule out an existing third-party add-in or application, but I am
personally not aware of any.

It has been a long time since I did any work with rule-based expert systems,
sometime back in 16-bit DOS/Windows days, but I recall that there were
several standalone packages that were quite usable. Even then, I didn't use
any that could be called from some other program...

I was familiar enough with both mainframe and PC expert systems to know that
writing one would be a "decidedly non-trivial task". Even, I would think, a
relatively simple one.
