Create alias for network drive?

P: n/a

Hi all, is there a way for me to create an alias on my home PC for a
network path at the company work for?

I have a database (front end and back end) where the tables in the back
end are linked to the front end, which has all my forms and reports, so
all the linked tables in the front end link to the company's network
path:

\\nt24\canapp\newdb\tables.mdb

Is there a way for me to create an alias for this on my home PC so that
when I take it home to work on it, I don't have to refresh the links
and then do it again when I go back to work? I want to just eMail a
copy of the front end back to myself at work and drop it in the right
folder and have the linked tables work without going through the whole
refresh links process....

Your work doesn't used mapped drives?
Shame.

Do you have a home network?
Could you name a machine similarly to the work server - possibly even the
machine you're using and take the convoluted path of mimicking your work
folder structure and linking to back to yourself through Network
Neighbourhood / My Network Places?
If it's still a particular issue for you might you just have some startup
code that checks the validity of the links as they stand - if they're not
relevant to the current location then it creates table links that are
appropriate instead?
In the past I've used a local table of possible locations and the relevant
data paths to easily link at FE update time (depending on where the FE is
used). Something like that might at least take the sting out of the hassle
you're having?
