A97 and PDF's - Are they compatible?

MLH
For instance, is it common practice to drop a PDF
image onto an Access 97 form as a 'background',
superimposing textbox data fields over it as a fill-
in-the-blank type form?

Same for reports?

Direct experience anyone?

You cannot use a PDF "image" as a background. An image (bmp, gif etc)
can be dropped in an image control, or set as the form's background,
but as you will find out if you try, .pdf is not a supported format.

Exporting reports as pdf is also not directly supported. Rather you
"print" a report to a PDF printer (a2002 and up have new support for
switching printers on the fly, but you can do it in any version) and
then use that document to view or email, etc. Just implemented that
yesterday. Requires full version of Acrobat.

Tom, please excuse me for butting into this thread, but can you describe
what you mean by "support for switching printers on the fly"? I'm using
A2003 (since last Fall) and A97 and haven't noticed a difference, yet.

Thanks in advance.

Or another PDF printing utility, like PDF995, which is free.

Since A2K2, there's a new printer object that gives you better
access to printer control than the old PRINTDEV methods, which were
Byzantine and hard to understand.
