Problem with Special Effects in Access 2003 and Win XP

P: n/a
It's become a habit for me to use the Sunken special effect in
enabled, un-locked text boxes, combo boxes, etc. and Flat in disabled,
locked controls. I've just started using 2003 and sunken doesn't seem
to look any different from flat. I've noticed that controls that I've
set to sunken seem to change themselves back to flat after opening a
form a couple of times. Strange.

Any ideas?

Hi Richard.

This is being caused by Windows themed controls. This feature should
be avoided like the plague. It can be switched off using Tools/Options
and go to the Forms/Reports tab. Also search this newsgroup for
"Themed Controls and Form Back Colour". Allen Brown has posted some
excellent information there.

OK. Thanks. I was googling for "special effect" and "sunken" and
didn't get anything relevant. It helps if you know what the cause is
so you can search for it :-)
