A97 to A2003: Why a dot (.) now instead of a bang (!)?

Just curious!

Where?

Object.Property
Object.Method
Object.collection(item)
Object!Item

Never use Object.Item as this leads to confusion if an item has the same
name as a property or method, e.g.

set rst = db.openrecordset("select name from sysobjects")
debug.print rst.name
debug.print rst!name

result:
select name from sysobjects
(an object name)
