That's because tables weren't meant for data entry. They're there just to
hold the data. If you want something that looks like a table but is meant
for data entry, try a form in datasheet view or continuous form view. Some
of the formatting options become limited in datasheet view, but you can
highlight the current row in datasheet view or continuous form view. There
is an example at this link.

I did a search of this newsgroup and MS's knowledge base and couldn't
find an answer. I need to hi-light the active row (the one with the
arrow or pencil) in a table in design view in Access 2003. I have a
large db with 35 fields and I'm continually entering data in the wrong
