Hello everyone,
I have a report that has several queries behind it. The database is a
split database with the data on our network.
Usually, this report takes about 3 minutes to run (there is a lot that
happens with this one).
However, as of last week, its taking 45 minutes!
I copied the database to my machine and the report completes in about 3
minutes.
So, before going to IT pointing to a network issue, is there anything
else I should try? Any testing I can do?
Thanks.

Additional information that I just came across.
I had compacted the backend recently.
I relinked the database to a un-compacted database and it is running
fine.
So, does compacting cause an issue? Is there a way to reverse this?
Thanks
Brian

Not normally but have you tried compacting the front end as well?
Also, if no joy, take a copy of the uncompacted back end and compact it,
does the problem occur there and then?

When it's fast, are you the only one who has the back-end open?
When it's slow, do 2 or more people have it open?
What are the client and server operating systems on the network?
Hello everyone.
The problem is resolved.
It looks like a compact corrupted something within one of the tables.
I took a backup copy of the system, restored it, and reimported the
table I needed.
All seems fine now.
Thank you,
