Removing Screentips From Menu Items

If I place a menu item directly onto a custom menu bar as opposed to
placing it onto one of the drop down menus, Access insists on giving it
a screentip which mimicks the text of the menu item. If I delete the
screentip in the properties box, it just reappears. Is there any way to
get rid of the screentip?
