Determining Security Rights Via Code

I have a database that someone else put together to maintain. Security is handled via group membership in the System.mdw file. Some groups have data deletion rights to a particular table while other groups don't.

One change involves flagging a record as deleted instead of actually deleting it. Not a problem - except that I don't want groups without delete rights to flag the record.

I must confess to being a newbie with Access security. Usually Novell permissions have sufficed. I've come across something called dbSecDeleteData, but I'm clearly not using it right. The value is 128, regardless of my userid (and hence group permissions) I sign in with.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be a big help. (A CC to my email would be appreciated as well.)
