ODBC or OLE DB connection string?

MM
What is the difference between these two methods of connecting:

oConn.Open "Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};" & _
"Dbq=" & Server.MapPath(".") & "\myDb.mdb;"
oConn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & _
"Data Source=" & Server.MapPath(".") & "\myDb.mdb;"

(Passwords etc disregarded)

I am using the Jet.OLEDB.4.0 syntax, but have been advised by a
different hosting company's support desk that I would have to connect
using the first syntax and edit my .asp files as necessary.

At the Carl Prothman site (www.carlprothman.net) which lists numerous
connection strings, the first syntax ("Microsoft Access Driver") is
marked: "WARNING: This OLE DB Provider is considered obsolete by
Microsoft!"
