OLE Object

I have a table that contains a field "Signature" where the data type is
set-up as OLE Object.

I've created a module that will store global variables for me to use in
various forms.

the variable for the signature I have as:
Global strSignature As Object

I have no idea if the syntax is correct or not.

Anyway, when I close a form, I set the on close event to
strSignature = Signtaure.Object

This doesn't seem to work.

Is there a way I can accomplish saving the object as a variable or some
other method, so that I can use it in other forms.

Thank you,
Chris

Try Set:

Set strSignature = Signature.Object

BTW, the prefix "str" indicates the variable holds a string value. Your
variable doesn't hold a string value, it holds an object; therefore,
change it's name to:

Public objSignature As Object

"Public" superseded "Global" around Access 95.

Thank you very much for your response. The syntax corrections were
exactally what I was looking for. However, I'm still unable to
accomplish what I'm looking to do.

I get the error message "The component doesn't support automation"

Again, here is a simplistic view of what I'm trying to do:

I have a Bound Object Frame field "EngineeringSignature"
I have a Public variable objEngSig As Object in a module

On the "On Click" event of a command button I have:
objEngSig = EngineeringSignature.Object

When I click the button I get that above error message. I just want to
save the image I have stored in the bound object frame as a variable so
I can use it in another form.

Any further assisatnce would be greatly appreciated.

I just found out that an Object data type is actually a pointer (4
bytes) and, therefore, cannot hold the data from the Bound Object Frame.
Since the signature doesn't change (does it?), it would be better to use
an Image control & just embed the signature in the control. Then it
would be the same signature for each record.

It would be a lot simpler if you were working with a standard Image
control instead of an OLE Frame control.

If I remember correctly, you can copy the data from one OLE Frame
control to another. You are using the wrong property as the Object
property is merely a pointer to an Interface. Use the Value property
instead and copy it directly from one Frame control's Value property to
another.
