Problem inserting object into Bound Object Frame

Lyn
I am having a frustrating time trying to do a simple insert of a BMP picture
into a Bound Object Frame using both VBA and the Insert | Object... dialog.
I had a separate post thread going on this and closed it off when I thought
I had resolved the problem, but now I am back at square one. So I thought I
would start afresh with a new post. Here is the problem...

A few months ago, I set up a Bound Object Frame on a form which was tied to
an OLE Object field in the table. I was successfully able to insert (embed)
pictures into the control and table using the Insert | Object dialog via the
Create from File option and selecting a BMP file in a folder. This was
working just fine, and I still have many records from that time in the table
which still correctly display their picture in this control.

Recently (after several months) I decided to simplify the insertion of
pictures for users by adding a button on the form which performed the
insertion by program. But instead of the BMP picture fully filling the
control Frame (Size Mode = "Zoom"), I got a tiny, very chunky version of the
picture with the filename underneath in large type. Going back to the old
method (Insert | Object dialog), I found that it was doing exactly the same
thing now (whereas it was working correctly a few months ago).

I have checked the properties of the Bound Object Frame and the Access
Options, but was not able to find anything obvious. Wondering what else
might have changed in the intervening months, I realised that I originally
had BMP files associated with the MS Paint program, but since then I had
re-associated this file type with MS Office Picture Manager. So I changed
the file type association back to MS Paint and Lo and Behold! picture
insertion was working correctly once again.

Problem resolved (I thought). But I was wrong. Shortly after this I had to
reboot the PC (nothing to do with this issue). Since rebooting, the Insert
| Object dialog has gone back to inserting the chunky thumbnail and filename
instead of the full-sized picture. I have rechecked everything, including
the file type association (still set to MS Paint), but can't get it to work
properly again. I am rapidly tearing out what is left of my hair on this!

Has anyone seen this problem? What is the cause? What is the solution!?

PLEASE help!

Cheers,
Lyn.
